YETI XD™ JK/JKU Sector Shaft Brace With Frame Side Track Bar Reinforcement Bracket

YETI XD™ JK/JKU SECTOR SHAFT BRACE WITH TRACK BAR REINFORCEMENT BRACKET

 by Steer Smarts

Part number:
Rubicon: 79052001

The YETI XD™ JK/JKU Sector Shaft Brace With Frame Side Track Bar Reinforcement Bracket was engineered to bolt onto the stock track bar mount on the frame. The purpose of this piece is two-fold. First, the sector shaft support is meant to help minimize the aluminum and steel steering gears from flexing/deflecting/moving when cycling your steering system side to side. The second part of the product is to reinforce the frame side track bar mounting location to help minimize any deflection of this bracket and ensuring that the mount doesn't break under extreme stress.

NOTE: This product will only work with stock gearbox.

MAY NOT WORK WITH ALL TRACK BARS. CLEARANCE ISSUES HAVE BEEN NOTED WITH: ROUGH COUNTRY

Rock Solid Piece

This thing is beef and must have for your jeep. Had an issue with the sector nut as it didn't go in straight. Yeti customer service was great and sent me the new nut. Everything went smooth as I expected, the steering wheel was off centered a bit, but wasn't that hard to fix it. Test drove it and wow, this thing is rock solid, made the steering wheel tighter, hit a few pot holes and the steering wheel seems very sturdy. Best money spent ever..., get this for your jeep guys...

Good product but not great quality control.

While the bracket stiffened up my steering, the quality of the bracket was lacking…

Out of the box my bracket had lots of burrs that needed to be cleared off. Second, halfway through the install i had to retap the bolt hole on the bearing plate due to incorrect/damage threads on one of the two bolt holes. (Straight out of the box).

Unfortunately, I had to go out and buy a tap kit so I could get the project finished over the weekend.

Had to do a lot of work to get the bolt holes to line up with the bearing. Quality control is lacking…

Just buy it

I have the steel steering box upgrade on my JL Rubicon. The steering was still sloppy. This brace made a significant improvement. The steering feels much tighter. I highly recommend.

Any honest Jeep owner will admit that a Jeep handles like a balloon on the highway. Steering it at speed is a full time job...it sucks.
Add a Steer smarts bracket and you have a different, responsive well mannered vehicle. I doo not know why the factory does not do this! it should be mandatory!

On the edge of a five star product

*** I got the first run of this product's production so improvements may be made.

I had to grind out the forward sector shaft bearing bolt hole on the track bar bracket (do you follow that?) It needed just one millimeter ground on the driver side of that hole to fit the hardware. That why we lost a star
Tip: don't take a big socket like I did and tap the bearing up too far past the mounting holes on the bracket, Its a bear to pull back down so keep an eye on it.
In the end Its a great product that is superior in everyway to "Competitor S" with a similar offering and works very well. However, If you weld (sadly, I don't) the JKS brace is the best out there
